therapy friday.
wedding stress increasing.
A’s growth.
session (feb 7, 1pm) #
dr. r: “wedding 3 months out. stress level?”
me: “high. rehearsal dinner venue search, honeymoon booking, A’s mom still has opinions.”
dr. r: “and A.?”
me: “holding her ground now. told her mom ‘we’re doing beach casual’ final answer.”
dr. r: “that’s growth.”
me: “yeah. she used to cave. not anymore.”
what changed #
before engagement:
A. avoided conflict with her mom.
compromised to keep peace.
now (engaged, wedding planning):
standing firm on beach vibe.
“this is our wedding, mom.”
first time pushing back hard.
dr. r noticed #
dr. r: “you said ‘we’ three times. ‘we’re doing beach casual.’ ‘our wedding.’ ‘we decided.’”
me: “…yeah?”
dr. r: “year ago you’d have said ‘my wedding’ or ‘i decided.’ now it’s ‘we.’”
me: “i guess.”
dr. r: “that’s partnership. not just dating.”
hit different.
tonight (february 7, 1:41am) #
therapy reflection.
wedding stress high but A. growing.
standing up to her mom.
dr. r noticed i say “we” now.
